چکیده

Sebastes schlegelii is a commercially important fish with special viviparous reproductive system that cultured in near-shore seawater net cages East Asia. In the gonadal development of species, gonad males mature before those females, which after mating. Mating male/female fishes occurs October each year. Then, females undergoing oocyte maturation complete fertilization using stored sperm March following The pregnancy completed when larvae are produced ovary. It has been reported embryonic nutrient supply originates entirely from female systems. However, until now, nutritional patterns and processes provision S. parturition have not clear. goal this research was to study embryos, juveniles during pregnancy. Anatomical observations, light microscopy scanning electron were used developmental characteristics early embryos connecting structures between mother fetus. results showed following: (1) Placental-like found process , these placental-like proliferated fertilization. (2) encased by saclike structure composed blood vessels, connective tissue, surface epithelial cells. vessels near embryo existed thecal layer. Vascularized proliferation detected development. (3) Starting gastrula stage, connections surrounding cells loosened, ovarian fluid became abundant. addition, large number small holes cristae observed on embryo. We speculate may be able absorb nutrients fluid. (4) Yolk present throughout (5) Two types modes observed, lecithotrophic matrotrophic Three forms placental analogs exist : external absorptive surfaces; trophonemata, modifications epithelia for absorbing histotroph; follicular pseudoplacenta, close apposition follicle epithelia.

Effects of Feeding Rate and Water Temperature on Growth and Body Composition of Juvenile Korean Rockfish, Sebastes schlegeli (Hilgendorf 1880)

Three feeding trials were conducted to evaluate the effects of feeding rate and water temperature on growth and body composition of juvenile Korean rockfish, Sebastes schlegeli rearing at 3 different water temperatures. A total of 270 fish (each experiment) individual body weight (BW) averaging 16±0.3 g (mean±SD) were fed a commercial diet for 4 wk at 16°C, 20°C, and 24°C. At each temperature, ...

Simplicispira piscis sp. nov., isolated from the gut of a Korean rockfish, Sebastes schlegelii.

A novel Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, motile and rod-shaped bacterium, designated strain RSG39T, was isolated from the gut of a Korean rockfish, Sebastes schlegelii. The 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis revealed that strain RSG39T belonged to the genus Simplicispira in the class Betaproteobacteria and its highest sequence similarity was shared with S. psychrophila (98.4 %). The isolate grew opti...

Fetal-to-maternal signaling to initiate parturition.

Multiple processes are capable of activating the onset of parturition; however, the specific contributions of the mother and the fetus to this process are not fully understood. In this issue of the JCI, Gao and colleagues present evidence that steroid receptor coactivators 1 and 2 (SRC-1 and SRC-2) regulate surfactant protein-A (SP-A) and platelet-activating factor (PAF) expression, which incre...

Sex-specific maternal effects in a viviparous fish

Mothers vary in their effects on their offspring, but studies of variation in maternal effects rarely ask whether differences between mothers are consistent for sons and daughters. Here, we analysed maternal effects in the mosquitofish Gambusia holbrooki for development time and adult size of sons and daughters, and a primary male sexual character (gonopodium length). We found substantial mater...

Toxic effects of ammonia exposure on growth performance, hematological parameters, and plasma components in rockfish, Sebastes schlegelii, during thermal stress

Rockfish, Sebastes schlegelii (mean length 14.53 ± 1.14 cm and mean weight 38.36 ± 3.45 g), were exposed for 4 weeks with the different levels of ammonia in the concentrations of 0, 0.1, 0.5, and 1.0 mg/L at 19 and 24 °C. The indicators of growth performance such as daily length gain, daily weight gain, condition factor, and hematosomatic index were significantly reduced by the ammonia exposure...
